And GOD said “Let there be Light"Ephesians 5:8 Says; “For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of the light.” When God said “Let there be light” in Genesis 1:3 he was talking about this same light. So what is that light? One way of knowing what it means to walk as the light is to know what darkness is according to the word. Typically darkness is looked at as being a dark space where there is no light, and you can not see. Does the word confirm that thought process or does it give another description of darkness. In the Strong’s concordance definition 2822 describes darkness as being misery, destruction, death, ignorance, sorrow, wickedness, obscurity. Interesting enough these words characterize the nature of satan. Could it be in Genesis 1:2 when the word says that; "darkness was on the face of the deep"; that this is what God was talking about? He was not talking about the absence of the sun, moon, stars, and so on because they were created in Genesis1:14. Darkness which is the nature of satan was on the face of the deep therefore when God said “Let there be Light” He was illuminating His nature to out shine satan’s nature dispelling it. That is why the word says in John 1:5; “And the Light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.” One area of the nature of satan that the Lord talks about in great detail is replacing ignorance with wisdom. Proverbs 3:13 says: “Happy is the man who finds wisdom, and the man who gains understanding.” Proverbs 4:7 says: “Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom. And in all your getting, get understanding.” Proverbs 3:19 says; “The Lord by wisdom founded the earth; by understanding He established the heavens’ by His knowledge the depths were broken up, and clouds drop down the dew.” What makes the wisdom of God so important is her value. Proverbs 3:14-18 says; “For her proceeds are better than the profits of silver and her gain than fine gold. She is more precious than rubies, and all the things you may desire cannot compare with her. Length of days is in her right hand. In her left hand riches and honor. Her ways are the ways of pleasantness, and all her paths are peace. She is a tree of life to those who take hold of her, and happy are all who retain her.” Joy, peace, pleasantness are all fruits of the Spirit. Only the wisdom of God can produce these fruit. So then to “Walk as children of the Light” it is to walk in the nature of God which is the fruit of the Spirit. God divided the light from the darkness in Genesis1:4 ignorance and wisdom make that same division in the heart of man. Proverbs 4:18-19 says; “But the path of the just is like the shinning sun, that shines ever brighter unto the perfect day. The way of the wicked is like darkness; they do not know what makes them stumble.” Jesus says in John 8:12; “I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.” It is this Light that turns misery to gladness, destruction to renewal, death to life, ignorance to wisdom, sorrow to joy, wickedness to righteousness, obscurity to revelation. This all comes from the love of God, and that is how “the light shines in darkness and the darkness did not comprehend it.” Only when we follow the Lord and His word does darkness disappear. 2 Corinthians 4:6 says; “For it is the God who commanded light to shine out of darkness, who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.” It is darkness coming out of us that the Lord is most interested in. After all we are His creation. Paul prayed well for us in Ephesians and may his words forever be in us. Ephesians 1:17-23; “That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him, the eyes of your understanding being enlightened, that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, and what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power which He worked in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places far above all principality and power and might and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in that which is to come. And He put all things under His feet, and gave Him to be head over all things to the church, which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all.” God Bless us all
